The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reportedly released the results of candidates who sat for the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Thursday, 16 April 2027. According to the information provided, a total of 632,788 results are available for candidates to check. The announcement is important for candidates who have been waiting to find out how they performed in the examination.
The Board reportedly disclosed the development in a statement issued on Friday and signed by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin. The statement explained that candidates could check their UTME scores through the approved SMS method. However, the results were not yet available for printing at the time of the announcement, meaning candidates could view their scores without immediately obtaining a printed result slip.
Candidates who wish to check their scores should follow the official instructions provided by JAMB. Before sending an SMS, ensure that you use the phone number associated with your JAMB registration and follow the specified message format. Candidates should also confirm any applicable SMS charges and avoid sharing their registration details with unofficial websites or individuals claiming to provide examination results.
It is important to distinguish between checking a UTME score and obtaining an official result slip. An SMS response may provide the candidate’s score, but it does not necessarily serve as a substitute for a printed or downloadable result document. Candidates who need their result slips for admission screening or other official purposes should wait for JAMB to announce when the relevant printing or online access option becomes available.
Candidates should also remember that checking their UTME scores is only one stage of the admission process. After viewing their results, they should monitor official JAMB announcements and the admission updates released by their preferred institutions. Universities and other tertiary institutions may have separate screening requirements, application deadlines, and subject combination rules that candidates must satisfy to be considered for admission.
Since the reported announcement concerns the 2027 UTME, candidates should verify the information through JAMB’s official communication channels before acting on it. Confirming the result release date, the number of results available, and the approved checking procedure will help prevent confusion and reduce the risk of relying on misleading information. Once JAMB provides further instructions on printing result slips, candidates can follow the prescribed process to obtain the document they need.
How candidates can check JAMB result 2027
JAMB directed candidates to check their result by sending “UTMERESULT” through SMS to 55019 or 66019.
The message must be sent with the same phone number, or SIM, used during registration. That detail matters a lot. A different line will not serve the purpose.
Result printing is not yet available
The Board stated that candidates can only view their results for now. Printing options are not yet open.
So, for the Moment, the result can be seen, but it cannot yet be printed.
JAMB warned against altering result messages
JAMB also warned candidates against trying to manipulate or change the SMS received from its official channels. The Board said any attempt to fabricate or alter scores in order to mislead others, including parents, is a criminal offence.
In its words: “Candidates are strongly cautioned against manipulating the SMS received from the official platform (55019/66019) to fabricate or alter scores with the intent to mislead others, including parents. Such actions constitute a serious criminal offence.”
That warning was direct, and it left no room for guesswork.
Some suspects are already in custody
The Board said it has already started acting against offenders. It stated that two candidates and one parent are in custody for result falsification carried out with AI and other electronic means.
JAMB also said: “Currently, two candidates and one parent are in custody for engaging in result falsification using AI and other electronic means. Any candidate found culpable will face the full consequences of the law.”
More results will come in batches
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has stated that the examination process is still ongoing, meaning that the release of results has not yet been completed. The Board explained that additional results will be made available in batches as the processing of candidates’ examination records continues.
This means that candidates whose results are not yet available may need to exercise patience while JAMB completes the necessary procedures. The absence of a result at this stage does not automatically mean that the candidate has failed or that the result has been withheld. Candidates should wait for further updates from the Board and check their results again when subsequent batches are released.
JAMB’s batch-by-batch approach means that candidates may not all gain access to their results at the same time. While some candidates may already be able to view their scores, others may have to wait until their results are processed and published. Candidates are therefore advised to remain calm and avoid drawing conclusions about their performance based solely on a delay in result availability.
Candidates should also ensure that they follow the official instructions provided by JAMB when checking their results. They should use the approved result-checking method and enter the correct details to avoid unnecessary errors. If a result is still unavailable, checking again later may be necessary as the Board continues its release process.
The ongoing release process also makes it important for candidates to rely on official announcements rather than unverified information circulating on social media. JAMB remains the appropriate source for updates concerning the availability of results, any changes to the checking procedure, and further instructions for candidates.
Candidates who are still waiting for their results should therefore continue monitoring official JAMB updates and check again as more batches become available. Until the Board announces that the release process is complete, some candidates may have to wait longer than others before they can access their examination scores.
