Federal University of Lafia, popularly known as FULAFIA, is a federally owned tertiary institution located in Lafia, Nasarawa State, Nigeria.
FULAFIA was established in 2010 during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, but it commenced academic activities in 2012, after receiving full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Since then, FULAFIA has grown rapidly in academics and is now considered one of the best universities in Northern Nigeria—and among the top federal universities in the country.
As of 2025, FULAFIA ranked among the top 10 most sought-after universities in Nigeria, with over 42,962 applicants selecting it as their first choice on JAMB CAPS.
With this surge in interest, admission into FULAFIA has become more competitive, showing how much the school has progressed academically over the years.
That’s why it’s important to calculate your aggregate score even before applying for the Post-UTME process.
Knowing your aggregate score helps you know your chances of admission and make better decisions because, just so you know, FULAFIA’s admission process is now more competitive than in previous years.
In this article, we’ll guide you step by step on how to calculate your aggregate score for admission into the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA).
First of all, what is an aggregate score?
Many students don’t fully understand what an aggregate score means.
Your aggregate score is the total score gotten from combining your performance in JAMB, the Post UTME exam, and your O’Level results, based on a specific formula provided by the school.
Every university has its own method of calculating their aggregate score. Some combine JAMB and Post-UTME, others use JAMB and O’Level, while few of them use all three.
In FULAFIA’s admission process, your JAMB score and O’Level grades are used to determine your aggregate score—the school does not conduct Post-UTME exams.
How to Calculate FULAFIA Aggregate Score
Below is a step-by-step guide on how to calculate your aggregate score at the Federal University of Lafia, popularly known as FULAFIA.
As you know now, FULAFIA does not write any post-UTME exam; instead, the school uses the post-UTME screening method to admit students into various courses and departments.
Meaning to calculate one’s aggregate score in FULAFIA, you just need your JAMB UTME score and your five (5) O-level grades.
- Your JAMB UTME weighs 70%.
- You’re on level, which weighs 30%.
So now, calculating your aggregate score, you just need to follow the following steps.
STEP 1 – Calculate your UTME point.
First of all, divide your JAMB score by 400 and multiply by 70%.
Let’s assume Moshood scored 295 in JAMB UTME, so to get his UTME aggregate, we would divide his UTME score, 295, by 400 and multiply by 70.
I.e., (295/400) × 70 = 51.625
STEP 2: Calculate the O-level point
This is gotten by adding up the respective points attached to your five (5) relevant O-level subjects.
A1=6 Points
B2 = 5 points
B3= 4 points
C4=3 Points
C5=2 points
C6 = 1 point
Let’s assume Moshood is a computer science aspirant at FULAFIA and he had
Mathematics A1 = 6 points
Physics B2 = 5 points
Chemistry B3 = 4 points
Biology C4 =3 points
English language B2 = 5 points
I.e., 6+5+4+3+5 = 23 points
STEP 3- Add both your UTME points together with your O-level points.
So the final step is to add together both your UTME point and your O-level point to get your aggregate score.
So Moshood got 50.625 in his UTME and 23 points in his O level.
Then his aggregate score would be 50.625 + 23 = 73.625% out of 100%.
Therefore, Moshood’s Post UTME aggregate score is 74.625.
As you can see, calculating your aggregate score in FULAFIA isn’t a big deal.
