Colleges of Education in Nigeria are specialised institutions established to train potential teachers equipping them with necessary knowledge, skills and qualifications to teach in Primary and Secondary Schools.

These Institutions offers educational courses which leads to an award in National Certificate in Education (NCE) after completion.

There are a total of 205 accredited colleges of education and other NCE Certificate-Awarding institutions in Nigeria.

Out of the 205 accredited Colleges of education present in Nigeria 27 are federal owned, 54 state owned while 82 are privately owned.

Admission Requirements for Colleges of Education in Nigeria

Applicants must be at least 18 years old by the time of admission.
Applicants must have a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE), West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE), National Examination Council (NECO), or General Certificate of Education (GCE) with at least 5 credits (including English and Mathematics) obtained in not more than two sittings.
Candidates are generally required to write the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam.
