Many students have asked questions about AIP, and we will be addressing all of them in this article.
What Is Admission In Progress (AIP)?
“Admission in Progress” on JAMB CAPS means you have been considered for admission by the school you applied for but JAMB is yet to confirm the admission.
This simply means your details has been sent to JAMB for verification.
How Long Does It Take For AIP To Change To Admitted?
The status “Admission in Progress” can change to “Admitted” within 2-4 weeks.
The time it takes to change depends on several factors, which we will discuss later in this blog post.
Factors that can delay the change from AIP to Admitted
Incomplete O’Level Result Upload
If you’re O level result is not complete or not properly uploaded it can also cause a delay in your CAPS changing from “AIP” to “Admitted “
Always ensure your O level result is properly uploaded if possible visit a nearby CBT centre to confirm.
Admission Quota Limit
Every institution has a specific admission quota for each course as approved by JAMB.
If your institution is nearing this limit, it can cause a delay in your admission status, especially if they are adjusting their list to fit within the quota.
This is particularly common with competitive courses where admission slots are limited.
JAMB System Glitches
JAMB usually update it’s system during admission process at times this can cause a glitch which can delay th admission status to change from “AIP” to “Admitted”
Delay in School’s Upload of Admission List
Sometimes, yourinstitution may take longer to upload the final admission list to JAMB CAPS. Until this upload is complete, your status may remain stuck on AIP.
Issues with JAMB Regularization
If you’re a Direct Entry applicants or you switched course or institutions late you will need JAMB regularization.
This can cause a delay in your admission process.
Data Mismatch
Mismatched details on your JAMB profile can cause this delay also.
For example there is a mistake in how your name is spelt, wrong date of birth e.t.c which is different to the one you provided to your institution.
Always verify all your information both on JAMB and on your school’s portal to avoid issues.
Late Submission of Required Documents
Some institutions require candidates to submit certain documents, like birth certificates, local government identification, or transcripts, before finalizing admissions.
Delayed submission of these documents can bring about prolongement of your admission status of changing from AIP to Admitted.
