Kwara State Government Approves 2026/2027 Bursary Award
The Kwara State Government has approved the commencement of the 2026/2027 bursary award for students of Kwara State origin enrolled in tertiary institutions. The announcement, published through the Kwara State Scholarship Board’s official website, provides an opportunity for eligible students to apply for financial assistance through the state’s online bursary registration system.
The approval was announced by the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as part of the state’s student-support programme. According to the published notice, the application process requires students to create an account on the official scholarship portal, verify their details and submit the requested information and supporting documents online.
Students interested in the award should read the eligibility conditions carefully before applying. They should also check the official portal for the latest registration status, application deadline and any further instructions issued by the scholarship board.

The official bursary announcement confirms the approval of the award for the 2026/2027 academic session. However, the notice does not clearly state the amount payable to each beneficiary. Applicants should therefore rely on the scholarship board’s official communication for confirmation of the award amount rather than assume that previous years’ figures will apply.
Who Is Eligible for the Kwara State Bursary?
The scholarship board’s published information identifies students of Kwara State origin in tertiary institutions as the intended beneficiaries. However, the official pages contain different descriptions of the eligibility requirements.
The specific 2026/2027 bursary announcement states that only final-year students who are Kwara State indigenes and attend state- or federal-government-owned tertiary institutions are eligible. A separate eligibility page on the same official portal uses broader wording, stating that students of Kwara State origin in tertiary institutions are eligible.
Because these statements do not fully match, applicants should confirm their eligibility directly through the official portal before completing their applications. Students should pay particular attention to their year of study and the ownership of their institution.
Requirements for the 2026/2027 Bursary Application
The official application notice lists several documents that applicants must scan and upload during registration. These include:
- A recent passport photograph.
- A Local Government citizenship certificate.
- An admission letter.
- A valid institutional identity card.
- Evidence of payment of the required NAKSS dues.
- Relevant identification details, including the NIN and KWASRRA ID, as specified in the application instructions.
Students should prepare clear copies of the required documents before starting the application. They should also ensure that their names and other personal details are consistent across their identification documents, admission letter and student records.
Applicants should use only the official portal to submit their information. They should not share their passwords or sensitive identification details with unauthorised individuals claiming to assist with the bursary process.
How to Apply for the Kwara State Government Bursary
The published instructions outline an online application process. Eligible students should follow these steps:
- Visit the official Kwara State Scholarship Board portal at https://scholarship.kwarastate.gov.ng/.
- Locate the bursary award application link and select the option to apply.
- Create an account by entering the requested information.
- Check the email address used during registration for the verification message.
- Activate the account through the verification link sent to the email address.
- Log in with the registered email address and password.
- Select the option to complete the bursary form and provide the required information.
- Upload the supporting documents requested by the portal.
- Review the information entered to correct errors before completing the submission.
- Use the bursary record section to view the completed form and print a copy for personal records, where the option is available.
Applicants should keep their login details safe and monitor their email for account activation messages or further communication from the scholarship board. The portal’s published instructions also advise applicants to use the relevant account and record sections to complete and review their registration.
Kwara Bursary Application Deadline
The official pages currently show inconsistent dates for the application period. The specific bursary announcement states that the two-week registration period begins on Monday, October 26, 2026, and closes on Sunday, November 8, 2026. The separate eligibility page gives October 28, 2026, as the start date and November 9, 2026, as the closing date.
Applicants should not rely on one date without checking for an updated notice. The safest approach is to visit the official application portal promptly and confirm whether registration is open, the deadline currently being enforced and whether any extension has been announced.
Students who encounter difficulties during registration should use the contact details published on the official portal rather than rely on unofficial social media accounts or third-party agents.
Important Advice for Applicants
Students should ensure that they meet the applicable eligibility conditions before submitting an application. They should provide accurate information, upload the required documents and retain a copy of their completed application for reference.
Applicants should also distinguish between approval of the bursary scheme and confirmation that an individual application has been accepted. Completing the online form does not, by itself, establish that a student has been selected for payment. Beneficiaries should wait for official communication from the scholarship board concerning verification, selection and disbursement.
The amount of the 2026/2027 award should also be confirmed through an official announcement or the application portal. Students should avoid relying on figures reported for earlier bursary cycles unless the government or scholarship board explicitly confirms that the same amount applies to the current session.
Conclusion
The Kwara State Government has approved the 2026/2027 bursary award for eligible students of Kwara State origin in tertiary institutions. Applications are processed online through the Kwara State Scholarship Board’s official portal, where students can access registration instructions and the required application procedure.
Prospective applicants should verify the eligibility conditions and deadline directly with the board because the published official pages currently differ on both the scope of eligibility and the closing date. Preparing the required documents early and following official instructions will help students complete the process correctly.
