Bayero University, popularly known as BUK, is a federal university located in Kano State, Nigeria.
It offers a remedial science programme which serves as a preparatory programme for students who aspire to gain admission into various science-related courses.
This programme lasts for just one academic session, during which students receive intensive lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions to improve their understanding of core science subjects.
After successful completion, students can get direct admission into degree courses provided they meet the programme requirements and JAMB requirements.
BUK Remedial Science Programme: it is aimed at students who did not meet the direct admission requirements for science-related courses.
Bayero University, Kano (BUK) is accepting applications for the 2024/2025 Remedial Science Programme.
BUK Remedial Science Programme Admission Requirements
Before applying for the BUK Remedial Science Programme, candidates must meet one of the following conditions:
- Five O-level credits, including Mathematics, English, and relevant science subjects, obtained in not more than two sittings.
- Three O-level credits, with the requirement to remedy the remaining subjects before gaining admission into a degree programme.
Absorption into Degree Programmes
Candidates who successfully complete the remedial programme and meet the following conditions will be admitted into a degree programme:
- Five O-level credits, including Mathematics and English.
- Candidates must meet the BUK minimum UTME score.
- Candidates who pass but do not meet the UTME requirement may still be considered if granted a JAMB waiver.
Validity of Results
Results from the remedial programme remain valid for two admission sessions.
Candidates who pass but do not meet the O-level or UTME requirements may still use their results for the next admission session.
How To Apply for BUK Remedial Science Programme Admission Form 2025
To apply for the BUK Remedial Science Programme Admission Form 2025, you would need to follow the process below:
- Visit the application portal https://mybuk2.buk.edu.ng/bukrems/application.
- Register with your name, phone and password.
- After registering, log in with your number and password to continue.
- Upload your passport and O level result.
- After uploading them, fill in all necessary information for your profile update.
- Generate an invoice and make payment for the form.
How To Pay for the BUK Remedial Science Programme Form
After uploading your passport and O’level result with updating your profile, candidates are required to pay the application fee via remita as follows:
- To generate RRR (Remita Retrieval Reference), click Make Payment from the menu as indicated in the image below.

- Click the generate invoice button to generate RRR as indicated in the image below.

- Click Pay with the Remita button to pay directly with the Remita platform as shown below:

- After clicking the button in the step above, the Remita page will be launched as indicated below.
- After the payment, the application will automatically process the payment.

- You can either pay with a bank or other options available; you need to manually click Check Payment Status to process the payment as indicated below.
Important Notes
The BUK Remedial Science Programme lasts for one academic session.
There will be no interruptions during the session.
The 2024/2025 session begins in May 2025.
Candidates who successfully complete the programme may proceed to a degree programme in the 2025/2026 academic session.

A non-refundable fee of ₦5,000 is required to access the online application form.
